Matt Ruranski

Matt Ruranski, like Simon Jaymes, has a background in Dance as well as music  This not only gives him an understanding of the complexity of rhythms but the Latin influence of South American music is evident in his style and physical performance.  He was weaned on 80’s hair metal and has been drumming since the age of 11. Matt has a love of all percussion – and enjoys producing rhythms on varied and unusual percussion instruments from a clave to a full kit.  Matt plays with local musicians all around Kent, including Maquenzie and Maiuko, both in the studio and at live performances.   He is also working on his own new project (as of Jan ‘09), Tener Duende, a high energy, flamenco Jazz funk trio in which the kit has been exchanged for a more complimentary, organic sounding cajon.
