Simon Jaymes
Born in Pembury, Kent, raised in Hadlow Down (East Sussex), North London based self taught Singer/songwriter Simon Jaymes was Indy award Finalist as Best Male Solo Act back in 2008, Runners up for online magazine and radio station Somojo as ‘Male artist of the year’ in 2010 and was Finalist as ‘Best Male Solo Artist’ and ‘Best Indie/Rock Artist’ with The People’s Music Awards 2011.
Also known as a world-class ballet & contemporary dancer, Simon is no stranger to the stage. As a live artist Simon has performed his material throughout the UK supporting & head lining at various venues alongside established artists including: Jon Allen, Beth Rowley, The Fix & The Blockheads. Simon has also made guest appearances in mainland European & Far East venues to high critical acclaim. With influences such as John Martyn, Dave Matthews & Pearl Jam his Debut Album ‘Wild Life’ is uplifting, thought provoking & musically timeless in a highly unique & original way. He lyrically communicates his songs as a storyteller, combining his varied life experiences with fantasy. Simon’s poignant lyrics, vocal hooks & catchy fingerpicked melodies integrate seamlessly with beautiful full-band arrangements. Recorded using only full live takes with minimal overdubs; This eclectic debut album displays his versatility as a singer/songwriter & guitarist covering the genres & sounds of Soul, folk, rock, melodic rock, acoustic, & blues. Simon has classed his album as Acoustic/Rock.
His Single ‘Sailboat’ & Debut album ‘Wild Life’ was released under his own label in 2010 (SJH Music Ltd) and was recorded/co produced with some of the best musicians in the music industry who have worked/Produced with the biggest names including Lady Gaga, Tony Braxton, Jamiroquai, Tom Jones, Peter Gabriel, Shania Twain, Brand New Heavies, Joss Stone…….the list goes on. Simon has also been a session recording guitarist/singer for other bands and artists including: reggae band ‘Rebel Control’ and Alex Meadows album ‘The Inexperienced’.

Simon Jaymes aka Simon J Humphrey spent his early years training in Ju-Jitsu and achieved his black belt first Dan by the age of 11. He then pursued an interest in show business and went on to win a full scholarship to attend The Sylvia Young Theatre School, working as a child actor appearing in plays/musicals/TV and Film and starring along side and supporting well known Film and Stage actors including Judd Hirsch, Brian Cox, Jim Dale, Jon Challis, Liz Robertson, Ruthie Henshal and many more.
After carful consideration of other scholarships and sponsorships offered to him aged 16 he later decided to train at The Rambert School of Dance from where he became a world-class ballet & contemporary dancer. He then continually worked professionally for over ten years in dance with many Chorographers and company’s such as Matthew Bourne, Tetsuya Kumakawa, K-Ballet Company, The Royal Opera House and The English National Opera to name but a few.
Living in North London Simon now concentrates his energy solely on writing/recording and performing as a live artist after being originally inspired by Mentor and Uncle, the late James Martin Rex for whom was known and respected as an accomplished record producer and engineer.
